Airsprung, Bed Mattresses

In 1871 Hedley Chapman founded a mattress factory in Trowbridge, Wiltshire or to be more precise, he began to manufacture straw palliases at the very reasonable price of 3s6d a pair. He was a firm believer in quality and value for money and as a result the company went from strength to strength. In the early 1900's as mass produced mattresses became more sophisticated, so did the processes by which they were made and a programme of modernisation was introduced which ensured that the company was always at the forefront of technology. When the world woke up to the interior sprung mattress in the 1930.s Chapman's was right there with new plant and machinery that was to make the company's name. Twenty years later that name changed to Airsprung to reflect the new designs. Today Airsprung beds are the largest single-site furniture manufacturer in the UK, offering the widest range of mattresses, divans, metal and wooden bedsteads available to suit most budgets. At the Darlington Bedding Centre we stock a wide range of Harrison beds displaying them in multiple different spring tensions each one incorporating the patented and award winning revolution spring system.
